The title of this magazine cover uses bold text for the title and this emphasizes strongly what the topic is about, he also includes other text which looks like names of people and sub-topics inside the magazine, and they are all squashed together and there is no spacing between them he also includes a large image
Regulatory Bodies
British Board of Film Classification (BBFC)- The British Board of Film Classification or BBFC is regulating body that regulates specifically films, videos, DVDs, and Trailers. They focus on publishing guidelines to the public to see what their opinions are on what age rating should be appropriate to be placed and they are held responsible to Parliament.
Video Standards Council (VSC)- This regulating body was founded to go above and beyond a Code of Practice that is designed to encourage high standards in line with the video and DVD industry. The Code of Practice was then developed to encourage high standards in the video game industry.
The VSC initiates staff training guidelines for retailers as well as other responsible people whose work is supplying videos, DVDs, and video games to the public audience to verify that age-restricted material/media isn't easy to get by underage children in that specific game with a specific age rating.
The VSC has been around for a few decades now since 1994 the regulatory body has been responsible for analyzing an age rating for a game and its content. It has also been responsible for managing the PEGI system which currently covers the whole of the UK and 31 other European countries. The VSC has a lot of experience in terms of analyzing and managing age ratings than any other regulatory boy in Europe
Pan-European Game Information (PEGI) This regulatory body was created to moderate the ages of games that are suitable for that age range and they also analyze the content included in the game so that they can decide which age is suitable for that game.
Authority for Television On Demand (ATVOD) This regulatory body regulates the content of edits that are played on more than 140 on-demand TV services, through mobile, online, and Television.
Types of stop motion animations
Pixelation- Pixelation is a technique in stop motion where live actors are used to create a frame-after-frame subject in an animation film by using a repetition of poses in the taking of frames and changing the poses slightly just before the next frame or frames are taken and this creates the actor to look like a puppet in stop motion.

Typographic rules for magazine design
Entry points- Helps readers become more engaged and start reading the text. It can also be used for text techniques like drop caps, pull quotes, headings and titles.
Drop caps- For drop caps you will have to select the paragraph and then you will need to go into the paragraph control panel and select the option drop cap number of lines and increase it to a suitable size to end up with a great entry point. If you want to separate or leave a gap between the drop cap and the lines you will have to choose alt and right-click to leave a space, it can also be used for kerning and tracking in text.
Line length- It has to be within the range of 45-90 characters because if you stretch the text box out too much then it is too long and if you shorten the length below the line range it will be too short so in between the line length is a suitable size.
Alignment- For alignment of the text you place a ranged left alignment.
Typefaces and x-heights-
Paragraphs intended or space (but not first)-

Magazine annotation and analysis cover

- The headline has all small letters with different font sizes and different positions with bold typeface.
- The page number is 1 as on a magazine cover it's 1.
- It includes a rule which is at the top of the cover drawn across the masthead.
- The typefaces are all different and I can't describe which each one is, as for the font sizes the masthead and the headline are big and bold.
- The layout of this magazine has the masthead positioned on the top right of the cover and the headline is positioned in the center of the magazine cover, it also has two different colors on either side of the magazine which meet up in the middle.
- The imagery in this magazine is the man who is positioned in the middle of the magazine cover.
- The photography in this magazine shows the man using his hands which could mean he is explaining or emphasizing something.
- The shot distance has been taken from a mid-shot view.
- The location looks like a hall or conference.
- The costume he's wearing is a suit and the body language shows that he is using his hands to explain something in depth.
- The type of this text uses formal type as it talks about the designer's designs, it is also personal as it is describing how the designer came up with these designs and how he created them.

Semiotics and Intertextuality
Task 1
This image is using intertextuality by including two images refer to each other, the first coming from the right picture which presents the avengers hero's in a comic book cover and they repeated a similar representation of the comic book cover in a 21st century film in terms of where they positioned the hero's to show their importance and to show their powers and attributes.
They have referenced another type of media text to show how relevant they are to each other and to convey to the audience that in the movie they have used the same descriptions and similar scenarios that were included in the comic book and to also present the adaption that they made in the film from the events and descriptions of the hero's in the comic.
This gives the audience to see how it would look like in a modernized film cover showing real actors in the cover with realistic effects that are produced in the cover.
Task 2
Semiotics is the study of signs and the general definition means inside society.
It also means a sign that the audience can see but could mean something else which means that it could convey a different message to the general message that the audience interprets.
The meanings of topics could be defined by using symbols, text, and technical elements.
Signifier- The definition of this term is to describe a sign by a word, color, and image.
Signified- The definition of this term is the concept, meaning, and associations something has with a symbol such as the color Blue, it could represent the sea or the emotion of being sad, it is basically the meaning of what the audience sees as a whole towards an object.
Intertextuality- The procedure of producing references to all types of media text linking to another source of media text.
The meaning of this word in media is to pay acknowledgment to another source of media text in film, television, and music.
An example of this is the films She's the man and Shakespeare in love which were both influenced by one of Shakespeare's plays called Twelfth Night.
Connotation- This is the meaning of a sign /symbol but in-depth, so it has a hidden meaning that people can't easily recognise and it has multiple meanings.
Denotation- The meaning of this word is when the audience can recognise the sign/symbol easily because it is quite clear what the word suggests and all the audience have similar feelings, thoughts, and ideas towards that specific word.
Digital image types and resolution
Resolution is the size of an image that measures the (DPI) Dots per inch or (PPI) Pixels per inch of the image.
File types that are suitable for websites are JPEG, SVG, PNG, and GIF.
The differences between JPEG, SVG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, and BMP are that
JPEGs- These are most suitable for things like photographs, etc.
PNG- These are most suitable for images that are transparent and images that can be streamed.
GIF- These are most suitable for images that are comical drawings and clip art which include flat areas of color.
SVG- These are most suitable for web design and websites.
TIFF- Most suitable for print such as things like a magazine, newspapers and etc.
BMP- Hasn't really got anything that it can do apart from its use for wallpaper designs for your computer and other devices.
Legibility and Colour systems
Legibility- This is the process of using text on a background to see if the text is visible on the background for example light text on a dark background and dark text on a light background.
There are two color systems CMYK and RGB

Experimental Cover and Spread
This is the experimentation of my magazine cover which I produced in Adobe InDesign, I had to think about what would be included in a magazine I searched for magazine cover examples and I had a sheet that included all the details which needed to be included on the cover.
This is the experimentation of the cover spread of my magazine which I produced in Adobe InDesign where I had to think about what elements to include in my spread and to help me there was a document and a sheet that I had which helped me know what to include in my magazine spread and as I included one of the elements in my spread I would cross it out and move on with the next one.
Ideas for Area of Investigation
Magazine Planning
Final magazine
Magazine evaluation
The theme of this project is education and to show this I took pictures of my theme and used them in my magazine. My research required preproduction documents such as a mind map I made to talk about my theme and the ideas in my theme, so I had to take images of as many things related to education. Such as the different college buildings in the college and also facilities in the classrooms and I also took images of gym facilities to give anyone ideas of what the college might offer in their gym rooms and halls. When including images I had to resize them to fit a big amount of space of the magazine and the rest of the space that was left around the image would be text and I also left enough space between images so a lot of them would fit.
My target audience is students who are going into higher education in this case college/s and these students who are interested can come and visit and also explore what the college offers they can also read about what the college offers and can get invited to a taster day to see what courses the college includes and to view exhibitions that are related to each course.
For the layout of my magazine I used the colours orange, blue, pink and green as they are the four primary colours of the college, I also used the colour blue for the title on the cover and for the tagline at the top of the first half of the spread. I used big bold text for the title which was placed at the top of the magazine and I also used bid bold text for the subtitle which is placed at the bottom of the first page of the spread, I also used small text and put italics on it for the tagline which is underneath the image at the top of the first age of the spread and I used really small text to identify what the images are on the magazine spread. I made sure that the images were big enough for the frame and that the page numbers were the right font size and were positioned at the precise place, I also made sure that the Mast head had the right font size for each page and was positioned at the top of the magazine cover and spread. When including the images I had to check that the images were the right size for each section on the page so that I don't distort them and if they needed resizing I resize them a very tiny bit otherwise I would just crop the surroundings of the image. For the grid I had to make sure that I bring them near the edges of the magazine cover and spread and leave some area of the surroundings of the magazine blank, I also had to make three columns on each page on the magazine spread because that's one of the things that's required in a magazine. I had to use font styles different from the original font style and once I had chosen a font style I needed to use that for all the text of the information and facts about my topic on the magazine and I used several other font styles for example to describe the image, for the subtitle, tagline, title and masthead. The headings I had was the title of the magazine which is on the magazine cover and the subtitle for the introduction to the magazine on the magazine spread. I also labelled the magazine cover and spread with numbers and placed them at the bottom. I also used captions to describe what each image is and what is going on in the image. The name of the magazine is Stanmore Rocks which is at the top middle of the magazine cover and the is at the top of the magazine cover under the masthead.
The meanings of the information that will appeal to my audience is when I placed the tagline which is promoting to come to fitness sessions at college in people's free time. The paragraphs on the magazine is also giving information and advice about the college to the audience for example telling them what courses the college offers, where they can study out of their lessons, also that they are able to use facilities that might experience in the workplace after they finish and people in their workplace might want to know what facilities that they use to get their work done in unique ways and also to help them get in the best workplaces out there.
Everything worked well for example how the images fit on the magazine spread and how the text around the images blended in and how the colours of the stickmen on the magazine cover worked and how it relates to the four primary colours of the college except for a tiny detail which was the lines that were left on the magazine because I forgot to change it to view mode.
If I had more time I would have planned out to take more images and include a few more images onto my magazine cover and spread, I would have also planned out to write more text to include in my magazine.
The software I used to produce this magazine is Adobe InDesign and the tools I used were for example the text tool to write text, the crop tool to crop the unwanted bits surrounding the image, the resize tool to resize the images slightly, the colour and swatches panel to choose the colours I want use especially for the stickmen, the tool for the grids and the rules and guides also the tool to change the opacity of the background image on the magazine cover.
The skills I could improve are for example the tool where they use the grids and the rules and guides and also skills which uses features for images and adds effects on the image.
During the production of my magazine I had two images and one page text so I thought I need to take more images and write more text to include in my magazine.
I could have improved it further by including one or two more images or include a bit more text or an image and a bit of text.
Everything about this magazine is successful as I have included things such as images, text, tagline, heading, subheading, masthead, price, issue date and a pull quote.

Lighting and Photography
Type of lighting
Key light: The key light is the light that is the main light and it is also pointed directly at the subject.
Fill light: It is used together with the key light to create a certain mood or feel and it also brightens the shadows of the subject.
Hair light: This light focuses on a small part of your subject such as the hair, the hair light has a small tight beam so that it doesn't focus a large part on your subject. The closer the light is to your subject the less it focuses on your subject, the further it is the more it will focus on your subject.
Background light: This light is the light that when it shines onto the background of the subject the shadows disappear.
Camera-mounted flash: Camera-mounted flash means when it can be carried around with you anywhere and is used in places like concerts, weddings, and receptions. It generally means you can move it around quickly and easily with crowds without taking up much space. Flash is within the artificial light category which can bounce off ceilings to reduce the light before it hits the subject.
Styles of lighting
Split lighting: This lighting is the type of lighting that is placed at a 90-degree angle of your subject to create the effect of having one side of the face of your subject lit up and the other in a dark shadow, It creates a vertical line across half the face of your subject to make a dramatic mood or feel.

app planning
App Evaluation
I
created the app to help students keep track of their progress and everything
that they would want to have kept in one app rather than having to use
different apps or logins to access certain features. This allows my audience to
be able to access everything and being able to use the app quickly and efficiently.
My app is most used by students who are studying at university. From my
research of different apps, I mainly took inspiration from the login/sign-in
feature as well as the menu section. The research I did influence the
way my app looks and navigates, my app is designed much simpler rather than
complex, which allows the audience to be able to navigate the app without it
being too complicated. Thus allowing a much smoother experience for the audience.
When
creating the plan, I mostly followed through with what I planned. I made sure that
the planning fit the aesthetic and was not randomly designed. I mostly followed the
plan through however, if I had more time I would have completed the app rather than leaving some ‘gaps’ and missing pages, as shown in my planning.
In
creating the app, I used XD to design my app. Overall the software was somewhat
challenging as I could not find certain features that easily. I also had to remember
that I had to link the pages, and I also had to be very specific in linking
the pages, or certain things such as buttons should be linked to a page. Rather
than a page being ling to other pages by accident. I had to keep checking and
previewing the apps. I had overcome and
learned various skills when using XD, as I now know how to create an app much quicker, and when I discovered new things, I used the internet to learn how to use
them correctly and work them in my app.
I
used colour and my theme logo, making sure the colour scheme I had were the
colours that are used in the theme, which has allowed the audience to understand what
the app is designed for but also added the login/sign-in button. I used
pictures of the school building to allow the audience to understand that this
app is for university students and no one else. Adding images of the school
building reinforces the colour scheme as it is a visual feature on the app. The
language that is also used a formal and not used in an inappropriate manner. The
feedback I received was problems with navigation and missing pages which is fixed,
and are now much simpler than before.
The
final product matched my initial idea, as there is nothing in the app that I did
not want. What interested me the most was the idea that all the pages were linked
and none of the pages did not link or were wrongly linked. If I had more time to
complete the app, I would finish off the pages that I left, and make sure that
it would A. fit the aesthetics and B. link correctly.
