Original Imagery

Michal Batory- He was born in Poland on 25th  August 1959.

He studied at Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts in Lodz, Poland.  Michal Batory lives and works in Paris from 1987, 1979-1985.

Solid ARS Musica

I like this image because it has the colours and pattern of a piano.

Image project creation of Michal Batory's ideas

I created a new document by going to photoshop and clicking on new then I got two separate images to merge together one image of a clock and another of wings then I placed them into the document first I placed the image of the clock in the middle as the background then I used the pen tool to remove the unwanted bits from the clock by circling around it then I used the rubber tool to remove them.  Then I placed the wings and created a mask after that I duplicated the layer and worked with one layer and blurred the left wing and kept the right wing and did the opposite with the other layer of the wings then I attached both the wings on the clock after that I changed the colour of the background by going to gradient and choosing line then I dragged it from one end to another of the page then finally I added the text relating to the image I have created and I saved it.

The benefit of using the mask tool is to separate the image from the background which makes it easier to move around and do a lot of things with.

In my opinion, the image looks great as I thought about creating an image merged with another and the most obvious thing that I thought of is time flying so I thought of getting a clock and bird wings from the internet

Ryszard Kaja

This is a work that has been redesigned by me where I made shapes similar to the shapes that were on the original work but changed their colour and their opacity.    In my opinion, this looks amazing as I have included different types of colours which are drawn in different shapes like triangles, circles and a rectangle.

Ryszard Kaja-  Ryszard was a polish painter and designer who was born in Poland on 16th January 2022.

Studied at the academy of fine arts in Poznan in 1984.

He worked as a chief designer in a grand theatre in the city of Lodz from the year 1999 to 2000, Ryszard also worked as a stage designer in an opera and an operetta in the city of Szczecin from the years 1994.

                                                             ISO and Aperture

This image is good as it has got many things in focus except for the propeller due to the shutter speed being decreased.  To get the propeller in focus I should increase the shutter speed.

This image only shows the plane in focus the background is not visible due to the shutter speed becoming very fast and I get more objects in this image in focus if I lower the shutter speed.

The shutter speed in this image is also low as we can see the blurriness in the background of the subject to remove the blurriness I can try to decrease the shutter speed.

The aperture in this image is too high which is why we can see a bit of blurriness and the ISO setting is also very high which makes it hard to see the object.

The shutter speed in this image is a little fast which is making it hard to see what is in the image as it is dark, to bring more light and have a longer duration of the image I could decrease the shutter speed.

The ISO setting is too high which is making it too bright to see what's going on in the image, to solve this I can lower the ISO to reduce the brightness of the image and the shutter speed is slow as it is showing the movement of all the images and I just want the movement of the subject.

Intro to sound

Task 1

Diegetic sound -  Diegetic sounds are when they can be heard from the characters within the film such as sounds coming from objects and a music theme for a specific setting.

Non-diegetic -   Non-diegetic sounds are speech made by the characters and they are also voiceovers made by the narrator.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbKL5g5i8MI-   In this clip they use non-diegetic sounds and diegetic, in non-diegetic they use a voice-over from the news presenters and a narrator from one of the people who witnessed the event and diegetic paper flapping, door slam, the pulling and cutting of tape and soundtrack being played in the background.

Task 2

Foley sounds are sounds made by objects that make it sound as if a real thing is making that sound.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GPGfDCZ1EE-  In this clip the Foley artist John Rush uses a water pool and a raking stick to create a swish sound in the pool, He also used a baseball glove to create the footsteps of a person, He used a feather duster to create flapping of wings of a bird, a wooden frame with a wooden bar attached to it to make the creaking of a door, a metal stand to create footsteps of a robot walking and a box attached to wheels to create the sound of a skateboard moving.

       Genre and Photography

What is the role of photography in society? How does our culture depend on photographic images?

The role of photography in society is to present to people different designs and images which they haven't seen much of and to make them have some interest in the images and to see their reactions.

Culture does affect our photographic images because we can use the camera to take photos of our own culture so that we can share it and let people learn a new culture other than the culture they have and the other way around.

Photography helps us understand what is going on- but is it subjective or objective?

Subjective photography is when you take or see a creative image that has been taken then you start having your own interpretations of what the photo is trying to represent.

Objective photography is when you take or see an image that makes you have to agree with the author and not have your own interpretations and feelings.

Can photography be art?

Photography can be art as it can emphasise the different styles, designs and colours that it is drawn in and how each image has its own unique way of being portrayed.

Which genres of photography interest you and why?

The genre I like the most in photography is cars as I like to see the different angles of a car and the different styles of other cars as it gives me a great feel and makes me love the car more I also like nature photos as it gives me a good feeling of peace and quiet.

Analysing a poster for an event

It is for entertainment and it was made on 5th Nov 2021.

It is clear that it is a driving game and the central image in the picture shows it close up.

They have used bright colours such as blue for the sea and light blue for the sky and the colour green is used for vegetation.  They have also used bright red for the car and

The is quite large the first half of the title has been stretched out from the sides to look wide and the second half of the title looks like it has bold text.

It is a landscape image which has the background of a seaside and mountains surrounding them as well as the main object in the image which is the car.

The Tagline is not shown on the image but it is called "¡GO!".

The heading is placed at the top of the image.

The audience for this image is mostly targetted teens to young adults but can be played at any age, it is also targetted at importantly car lovers and people who have a passion for cars.

It could be improved by including a bit more information like the tagline and the time and date of when the event starts.

Type Basics

   Binary Opposites

Task 1

What is Binary opposition in media?
Binary opposition in terms of media is when they depict two characters against each other, one fighting for good and another fighting for bad.

Which theorist produced this theory and give some details about them?
Levi Strauss was the theorist that created the binary opposition theory, He was born in Belgium on 28th November 1908 and died in France 30th October on 2009.

Why do producers use binary opposition in media texts?
Producers use binary opposition in media to intensify the plot, also to continue the story and bring in differences in characteristics between the two characters.

List some common oppositions used in TV, Film and Music?
Batman and Joker

Task 2

Trainspotting Opening- https://www.google.com/search?q=Trainspotting+Opening&oq=Trainspotting+Opening&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i512l9.698j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

What examples of Binary opposition can be found in 'Trainspotting'?
Two undercover agents chasing two criminals.

One of the characters is shown to be reckless and that is Renton he also is shown to be a heavy smoker.

How are the two football teams represented, and why are they represented in this way?
One of the teams is represented as tough, strong and well-organised whereas the other team is not so tough, not so strong and not well-organised.

How is Renton represented? Compare this to the other Football Team?
Renton is represented as not very fit and active as the other team shot the ball and hit his head and fell otherwise he would've jumped and hit his head towards the ball.
The other team are represented as very fit and active, they would act quickly if the ball came to them, they also work together as a team more which is why they score easily.

How is Renton's house represented?
Renton's house is represented as a broken dirty house as the walls are broken, the ceiling is scraped off, the windows are broken and the walls aren't painted.

Task 3

How do the binary opposites help convey the message/narrative/story?

Mindmap

In this pre-production document, I stated the ideas of what I wanted to include in my project. My aim was to create a poster to inform people about an event that's going to start.
Graphic poster

This is the final graphic poster designed in Adobe Illustrator and I used big bold text for the title, for the location I also used big bold text.  I made a plan and followed it all the way through by including all elements I started in my planning documents.

For the seats of the audience I used the rectangle tool and changed it to the colour red using the colour picker, I used the ellipse tool to create circles to represent people, as for the chequered flag I used the rectangle tool and I used the line tool to draw lines inside the rectangle to create boxes and in each box, I kept alternating between two colours to create a chequered flag, I also used the object selection tool to select the car inside the image and separate it from the background and placed it to the background by copying and pasting I used the type tool to create the text in the poster.

My research was primary and secondary as I created the chequered flag from scratch and the audience from scratch and the rectangle from scratch and the race track I got from the internet I placed it into my project and faded it using a fade tool same thing with the car image got it from the internet and placed it into the project and used a tool to blend it in with the poster.

I faced no problems at all except for one of the elements in the poster which was the chequered flag I didn't know how much space to leave between the lines to create the boxes but to resolve that I set out a certain size to leave between the lines and when I sorted that it went well afterwards.

The products that went well in the poster were the rectangle to represent the seat for the audience, the sketching of the audience themselves and the writing of the text in the poster. I completed the products really well in the poster and I don't think I can improve it any better.  It communicates my ideas really well as this is what I was trying to go for and reach.

Graphic Social media header

This is my graphic social media header which I designed in Adobe Illustrator to do this I made and used my plan all the way throughout my production of this by including all the points I had planned in my planning products for my production.

To make this I had to start a new document by clicking new and to draw a rectangle I used the rectangle tool, then I drew a circle using the ellipse tool to draw it to the left of the rectangle to make it look like a Twitter header I then included the image of the car onto the document by going to File then clicking on  place then I had to resize the image by going to a corner of the image and reducing the size of the image so that it can fit inside the circle, I then drew a rectangle at the bottom of the header using the rectangle tool to show that this is where the audience will sit I also drew the audience by drawing circles and to do this I used the ellipse tool to make this look like people then I included the chequered flag at the top of the header by going to File then clicking on place I then had to reduce the size of the image by going to a corner of the image and reducing the size and I included the background by going to File then clicking place and going to the corner of the image and reducing the size and I faded the background by going to layer then image properties and going to opacity and changing it so the it looks faded and so that also the images and text could be visible and I also coloured in the circle by drawing semicircles and colouring them red and green and I drew a rectangle to colour it yellow by using the gradient tool to see and choose what colour I wanted to pick, then I placed them inside the circle and I placed the semicircle and rectangle layers below the circle layer.

The research I did for this product was primary research as the mind map I did was based on my own ideas that I included in my product such as the chequered flag which I created myself, also the people and the red rectangle for the people to sit I created and also the colours red, orange and green inside the circle to represent my account image but the secondary research was, for example, the race track which I got from online and pasted in as my background and the car image was also from online and I pasted it the circle to represent my account image.

Throughout the creation of this product I faced no problems at all except two, one of them for using the colours for the profile image I didn't know what colour method to use but to solve this I thought of using shapes and coloured them in so that they fit the shape of the circle, the second problem was how to create the chequered flag in terms of how to create the pattern of the flag but resolved this by using shapes and lines and colouring in one box and leaving another box blank and carrying to do this process until I have a pattern.
